As part of my goals for 2013 I decided that I should take more outfit pictures outside. I really enjoyed doing the few posts last year outside, and I am not really sue why I didn't do more. Having it written up on here makes it more concrete, and I have to make an actual effort to accomplish it. Anyway, I thought it would be perfect to do an outdoor shoot of my winter coat. I was waiting and waiting after Christmas was over to get a good opportunity to take these pictures. I really wanted there to be snow just to complete the feel of it. I had planned  on scheduling the post for when I was away, but the days were flying past and there was still no snow. I even mentioned on Friday January 25th that I wasn't sure if I would be able to get the pictures done before I left because there was no snow. I was actually really sad because I was really excited to do this shoot when I first thought it up. Luckily later that day it snowed, I was able to get out and get these shots, and everything worked out perfectly!

I absolutely love this coat, and I get tons of compliments on it when I wear it out. It is super toasty, comfy and perfect for Canadian winters. I think the crazy hood is my favourite part, the tassels are awesome (although sometimes they drag in stuff and it can be a nuisance). I made my coat for a "traditional t-shaped garment" project during university (although I added the pockets later). I followed some relatively easy instructions to make it, and I will post the step by step later today. I promise the title to this post will make more sense when the instructional post goes up at 12 pm. This style of coat has been around for a really long time and is an important part of Canadian history (and the history of costume). I really hope that someone else decides to make one of these puppies for themselves because they are amazing!
