Yay, new hair! I mentioned before that I was waiting to get a hair cut until I got home because I usually go to that same hairdresser. I ended up going to a different place, and I am still pretty pleased with how it turned out. I brought in a picture just to be sure that the person cut it exactly how I wanted them to. She made my bangs a little shorter than I wanted, but they will grow out quickly enough so I am not too worried about that. The problem areas are usually the under section and back of my hair and both look pretty good so I am pleased. Here are some close up shots:
It is also I Am Proud Of My Size link up time again. Looking at these pictures I must say my self esteem has really improved since joining this. Before I probably would have been picking myself apart, but I look at these pictures and think "I am happy with how I look for the first time in a looong time." Obviously I still have some bad days, but where they used to occur about once a week (or more) they now occur maybe once a month or less. Reading about the body image struggles of other women, and how they overcame them has really helped me work through my own issues. Sometimes you just need to know that there are other people out there with the same problems as you. Supporting them somehow helps you get better too. I'm not sure how much sense I am making, I am having trouble expressing my thoughts today, but that's how I feel.
Today I finally started cleaning my room up. It has been in a state of disarray since we moved into this house, which I am ashamed to admit was just over two years ago. The problem is I haven't lived here for more than a few months at a time since then. The day my parents moved from my childhood home was the day that Colin and I were coming back from Halifax. For anyone who doesn't know, we both went to school there, but moved back to Hamilton in the spring of 2011 when we were done. I then proceeded to move to Peterborough for a year of school, and then we lived in Halifax again this summer. All of the boxes from the apartment we lived in in Halifax during school, and from my apartment in Peterborough, just kind of accumulated in my room and it has been a bit disastrous. It feels really good to have time to clean it up. I have no excuses not to since we will probably be living here for a while until we save up enough to get an apartment (which might take forever, sometimes it feels like it will).
That's a snippet of my life today, nothing else to report today. See you all on Friday!
I really like the shorter bangs sort of a curly cleopatra you have going on :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Liza, I never thought of it like that but now that you mention is I can totally see it.
DeleteHope,
ReplyDeleteI really like your haircut!
Also, yay on the body image side! I myself have been reading the blog 'Eat the Damn Cake', which is not bad on this topic but sometimes a little preachy.
Hope all is well!
Thanks!
DeleteI have really been into a body image kick since the beginning of the summer. I have read that blog before and see what you mean. You should check out The Nearsighted Owl (she started the link up) and The militant Baker. They also post lots of body positive stuff.
I was cleaning out my room and came across a letter you sent me in while you were at Shad after second year, what a doozy!
I will check it out.
DeleteOh my, we used to write each other letters so much... maybe I will start up that tradition again sporadically!
I am soon finishing this project and going on holidays, yay!
I recommend it.
DeleteWe should totally start writing letters again, I have so much stationary!
Woot!
Very cute haircut!
