Down By The Bay: Fatkini Edition

What I Wore:
Cardi: Suzy Shier
Fatkini Top: Asos Curve
Shorts: Made by me
Fatkini Bottoms: ModCloth
Sunnies: Universal Studios

Last summer, a year into my fat acceptance journey, an amazing thing started to happen on the internet. I began to see all of these fabulous fat babes in fatkinis on blogs and on my dash on tumblr. In my own fat acceptance journey I was still an infant, but I admired these babes for their courage and I thought to myself "next year, next year I hope to be at that stage and able to don a kickass fatkini on the beach." The days passed and in the spring I began to scour the internet for the perfect fatkini to wear when we went up to the cottage. After a few months of hunting I finally found these high waisted bottoms on ModCloth. They were perfect, pretty much the bottom half of the bathing suit I had last summer, but I loved the look and I knew the brand fit well so I decided to go for it. ModlCloth also happened to have a killer sale on so I snatched these babies up and began to hunt for the top half to complete the look. It took me a little bit longer to find the perfect top, but Asos also had a sweet sale and I managed to pick the top up for under $20.00. The colour matched perfectly, and I loved the retro style. The only negative thing I can say is I am not sure who's ribs they measured when making the top but it is a little snug in that area. I intended to give it a bit of ease by adding a panel or something but I didn't have time to before we left. It was still comfortable enough to wear so I put on my new duds and went to the beach.

You might be ale to tell from the pictures but it was a little chilly and windy that day so I was wearing a sweater and shorts for a little while, but gosh darn I was going to wear that bikini at least once while we were away. Once it warmed up enough to take off my sweater I felt really comfortable wearing my fatkini for most of the afternoon. No one stared, no one laughed, no one made rude comments, and I finally felt like I belonged with all the other fat babes on the internet. It gave me so much confidence to be able to wear something like this, I wore it like a badge of honour. This is the first time I have ever worn a bikini in my entire life, and it felt so damn good. There is still some summer left in my corner of the world and I encourage all the fat babes I know and the ones I don't know to slip into your very own fatkini and go to the beach/a water park/ a pool whatever. Trust me it's not so scary, you will feel great, and you will definitely wonder why you never did it before. It's your turn to become part of the body confidence revolution.

S.S. Milkyway

What I Wore:
Shirt: ModCloth
Skirt: Made by me
Shoes: ModCloth
Socks: Target

At the moment I am trying to work through my backlog of outfit pictures. If you follow me on instagram you might have noticed I cut my hair the other day, but we won't get to the new look for a few more posts. For some reason this shirt make me feel like I am a stewardess on a star cruiser, not sure why that's just how it is. I was eyeing it on ModCloth for ages and when it went on sale I had to snatch it up (with a few, maybe too many, other items). I have also been looking for white shoes for a while and I really liked the heart and star cut outs on these ones. Plus they are rubber, which I find entertaining.

Not much else going on around these parts at the moment. I am really looking forward to going on vacation to my aunt's cottage next week. We go once a summer and it is heavenly. I feel like I have been working non-stop for the last two months so this week off is extremely welcome. Now that I will actually have a few minutes to myself I might be able to catch up on blog posts and what not. I make no promises though because a fair amount of time will definitely be spent lounging on the beach in my new fatkini (I will take pictures of that I promise)! Hope you are all having a great summer so far, any exciting plans for vacations/stycations?

Bird On The Wing

What I Wore:
Dress: ASOS
Belt: Made by me
Shoes: Thrifted
Sunnies: Ardene
Necklace: Pacific Mall

So it's been about 200 hundred years since I have done a blog post. The usual excuses apply on my end, I have been really busy with work and life etc. I feel like things are supposed to be slowing down, but they just keep getting busier and unfortunately certain things have to be put on the back burner. I haven't been completely lax in my absence though, I have taken a few sets of outfit pictures, so hopefully if I have a bit more free time over the next few weeks I will be able to make some more posts.

I have wanted to take pictures at this spot for a long time but I am never home in the daytime to be able to do so. I had a rare day off today so I thought this would be the perfect time to take advantage of daylight hours. I also thought it would be fun to do some obligatory spinning and jumping shots in my new dress. I am actually really happy with how these turned out, I usually have problems with spinning pictures and jumping ones definitely never turn out, I think it was my lucky day! On top of taking these pictures I also cleaned our apartment, paid rent, got passport applications, found some items for our FanExpo cosplay, and I bought a pair of polka dot jeans which I have wanted for a really long time. I would say it has been pretty successful, and I have another day off tomorrow! What have you lovelies been up to in my absence?
