Wearing My Heart On My Sleeve

What I Wore:
Shirt: Giant Tiger
Sweater: ASOS Curve
Lady tie: Made by me (McCall's 6795)
Skirt: Made by me (no pattern)
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Socks: Ardene
Shoes: Payless

I never intended to leave such a hugs gap in between posts, but things have been very crazy since we moved and I haven't had much free time. Luckily I still have a few outfit posts left from the old place, so when I have extra time I will be posting them up here. The holidays are rapidly approaching (3 days ah!), all of my shopping and wrapping is done, but we are still not finished unpacking our apartment. There is not a lot of storage space in our bedroom, and I really can't finish unpacking my clothing and sewing supplies until there is somewhere to put everything, so for now it is a waiting game. I can't wait until we are all done and settled in, moving is very stressful, especially at this time of year. I feel like I have been putting together some really great outfits lately too and it is really frustrating that I have no good photo spot set up. I am hoping once the holidays are over we will have some time to set things up and things will go back to normal.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

Clothing Swap @ This Ain't Hollywood

Just over a week after it happened I am finally posting the pictures from the clothing swap. I apologize for the  image quality but it was the day after we moved and I was a bit frazzled and completely forgot my camera and had to use my phone. I also didn't get any pictures of the giant tables in the middle of the room that had the free to swap stuff. Oh well, such is life. Here are the pictures that I did get, enjoy!

Clothing racks all set up for the swappers. The tables with the free piles were to the right.

A lot of Jagger

Accessories table

 Make-shift change room

 Haha!

And my swap haul/a sneak peek of our new living room. I ended up with 3 coats, 6 sweaters, 6 shirts, 3 skirts, 2 dresses, 2 hats, a faux fur stole, a faux fur collar, and whole bunch of broaches.

In case anyone was wondering all of the left over clothes were donated to a local charity, so this wasn't only a wardrobe revamp but a good cause too. I had such a great time and I can't wait until the next swap (Spring?)!

One More Sleep

What I Wore:
Dress: Made By Me (Burda ???)
Shirt: ASOS
Leggings: Suzy Shier
Socks: Ardene
Boots: Golden Ponies

I attempted to find the pattern number for this dress online (because all of my patterns are packed away) but I could not locate it for the life of me. The pattern cover is a pink sweater but is also includes the dress pattern too, in case anyone is interested. It's more of a relaxed look than I usually go for, but it is really comfy and I like the insert panels in the skirt portion, it adds a little something extra. the sweater/dress combo are a new pattern for the fall/winter season so I am not sure why I couldn't locate it on the website, oh well. I will try and find it after we move and edit this post or put the number up somewhere else. I love this fabric I used for this dress so much. It is a nice soft sweater knit that wears nicely and is easy to sew. Everyone at work bought at least one piece, if not more. I actually purchased three pieces myself, one of which I used to make this skirt. I also plan on making the sweater from this same dress pattern out of a charcoal grey piece. I will get to it eventually, the projects are really pilling up around here.

Just a brief post today since we are in the last stretch of packing and getting ready for tomorrow (eep!). Not sure when my next post will be because Sunday is the clothing swap and next week I am working literally every day (Friday at both jobs) so it is going to be busy. Somewhere in there we also have to find time to unpack and maybe decorate for Christmas. I am planing on getting some pictures of the swap and I have a few outfit post pictures taken that I haven't shared yet so I might make some brief posts next week if I have time. Happy Friday to everyone and wish us luck on our big day tomorrow!

P.S. Congratulations to Melissa F. for winning the Datevitation giveaway, you should have been contacted by them on Wednesday. Thanks again to all of those who entered!

Bunny's First Booties

What I Wore:
Dress: Made by me (Simplicity 2403)
Cardi: Thrifted
Tights: Joe Fresh
Socks: Ardene
Boots: LeBunny Bleu

The title of the post might have mislead you. I did not in fact put booties on Luna (that would be awesome but she would never let me), but I am wearing booties from a store called Le Bunny Bleu. See what I did there? *Marx Brothers eyebrow waggle* I am feeling really cheeky right now, not sure why. Anyway, Le Bunny Bleu had a great sale two weeks ago and I had to snatch these babies up. I think I would cinsider these my first pair of booties since I was a baby, haha! I bought another pair of shoes from Le Bunny Bleu in October, but they only had an 8.5 left and I can wear anything from 8.5-10 thanks to my orthotics. I had been eyeing them for a while so I snatched them up but sadly they are a little narrow in the toe and I can only wear them if I am not going to be walking a lot. Yup, I have a lot of weird issues buying shoes. Luckily these ones fit really well and are super comfy, they will be getting a lot of use on clear winter days.

The days are ticking down and we are getting closer and closer to the move. Most of our stuff is packed up and the house is in a ridiculous state of disarray. I cannot wait until Sunday when we are done moving and I can spend the day swapping my old clothes for some new ones. 3 days to go!

Walking In A Bunny Wonderland

What I Wore:
Shirt: Made by me (McCalls 6795)
Sweater Vest: Suzy Shier
Skirt: Made by me (no pattern)
Belt: Reitmans
Tights: ???
Socks: Ardene
Boots: Golden Ponies

This is going to be a image heavy and text light post. We are getting into the final days of packing and things are a little hectic. The previous tenants were't out of the place in time yesterday so I am going to get the keys today just in time to get our internet installed. Also my grandma went into the hospital on Friday and she wasn't doing so well yesterday morning, but she has stabilized now so we are hoping things will improve. Everything always seems to happen all at once all the time. hopefully once the move is over everything will settle down a bit.

I made this shirt as a sample for work. I saw the shirt below on ModCloth a while ago and fell in love.

Pleasant Tense Top, #ModCloth

I actually was going to purchase it when it went on sale, but they were sold out in my size! The next week the new McCall's pattern book came out and this shirt was one of the newly added patterns! I asked to make a sample and my boss said yes which was awesome because she can be a bit picky about what samples can be made with what fabric. It was meant to be It had to hang up in the store for a month after I made it so I just got to wear it this weekend (after washing it thanks to dust and such). I am really pleased with how it turned out, and I love that the neck tie can be worn with other shirts. This post turned out longer than expected. Now for your viewing pleasure enjoy some pictures of Luna frolicking in the snow for the first time!

Twistin' The Night Away

What I Wore:
Shirt: Thrifted
Sweater: Old Navy
Slacks: Joe Fresh
Shoes: Ardene

There's a line in Sam Cooke's "Twistin' The Night Away" where he says a guy is "dancing with a chick in slacks" and for some reason this outfit reminds me of that. Probably because these aren't really pants, but they are definitely slacks. Every time I wear them I think of that line in the song. While browsing around the internet for pictures of slacks I came across this image which also reminds me of what I am wearing.

I guess it's the bold print and the bright colours but this outfit really reminds me of the 60s. Ah the 60s, my first love. I grew up listening to music by people like Sam Cooke and Gene Chandler so it's only natural that I would have an affinity for the fashion of the time period too. I remember when Austin Powers came out, not only was it my kind of funny but the fashion was just to die for. Of course now I have branched out a bit and enjoy the early 1800s and anything from about 1870-1970 and, but I think the 60s will always hold a special place in my heart.
